As mentioned in my previous post, there are 2 places where the you can turn for free legal aid in Malaysia. There are Legal Aid Center and Legal Aid Bureau.

The main differences between these 2 organisations are that the Legal Aid Center is funded by Malaysian Bar and the lawyers helping in the center are doing it on voluntarily basic. As oppose to Legal Aid Bureau which is funded by the government and the lawyers are under the payroll of the Prime Minister Department.

The nature of cases that they accept is also different. Not everyone is eligible for free legal aid, especially cases involving commercial and monetary disputes will not be entertained by them.
