Complaints about lawyer are aplenty but I never imagine that it could happen to me too. However the above story is more shocking than mine. I approached my lawyer in June 09 upon getting a buyer to my house, paid the fees in advance but to my disappointment the lawyer kept his silence for almost 3 months and i assisted to chase documents from the developer office myself because he kept giving the excuse that it was not his office fault for the delay. Even the S&P delay?
He went on to shout at me even when i pointed out politely that I did my own checking with the Developer office and helped email the necessary document to him which he had claimed he never received. After finally signing the S&P in Sep 09, which he refused to attend to, (asked another lawyer colleague to handle us buyer n seller) I only receive the original S&P in Nov 09 (after chasing him again and again) today I found out that they misspelled my name in the S&P and he wants me to send it back for cancellation. I hv been trying to sell the house for years and I really dont want to lose the buyer but the lawyer seem not to care to do his job. I sold another house about the same time as this one and currently only waiting for full settlement. Up to now he keeps on giving excuses not to speak to me. Talk about professionalism, I think some of our lawyers are way behind. Dont know whether it will make matters worst for me if I complaint.
