On 22 Dec 2007, my friend, Yen San and her boy friend, Ee Keong and family have visited me in Sitiawan. I was so glad that they actually came all the way from Penag.
I brought them around few places in Sitiawan, especially those places which are tourist hot spot and those palces with good foods…hahaha!
Sitiawan is a small place in Perak which is near to Lumut and Pangkor Island.
In fact, there is a saying that Sibu is the “small Hock Chew province”, Sitiawan is the “small Sibu” and Kuantan is the “small Sitiawan” as the majority resident in these 3 places are Hock Chew dialect speaking. I am proud to be a Hock Chew though is the minority in Malaysia but many ministers and great enterpreneurs are Hock Chew too. Can you name them out for me?
Come back to the visit. They arrived in the morning around 10.00am, I brought them to the best “Kam Puang” (kon lor mee – black dry noddle) in Sitiawan.
Thereafter, we went to visit the historical Sitiawan Settlement Museum at Kg. Koh. This Musuem is funded and built by the Methodist Church.
“Yen San & Ee Keong”
“Interestingly, the offical opening date is the same as my birthday, hahah!”
This Musuem serves a very important record of the history of Hock Chew in developing Sitiawan and the early history of the development of church in Malaysia.
“one of the scene from the out look of the Museum”
“The settlement building of the Musuem”
When we 1st arrived there, the door was closed as the officer on duty is working in the church office, we need to call them to open the door for us.
“The reception”
I saw a “Free Donation” sign at the wall, however, I was told by the officer that the enterance fees is RM2.00 per person. I guess they must impose a minimum “donation” so that there is sufficient fun to keep them operating in future.
Of course, you are welcome to donate more than RM2.00.
“Ee Keong was taking photo for his lovely girl friend”
“The toilet”
“The historical staircase”
“The rubber manufacturing machine”
“The antique car” Anyone can tell me what brand or model is this car?
Please don’t forget to visit the Sitiawan Settlement Museum when you next visit Sitiawan. I bet you will enjoy it.
I will share with you more in my next post of our next destination…stay tune!

Keeyit – you should go 1 day. The food there is really cheap. 1 wan tan mee is only RM1.80.

The won ton mee sounds too good to be true… RM1.80 is just the amount of price increase for KL won ton me and all other coppee tiam food this year!

yogi- yes, it is real and in fact, the portion of the noddle is VERY big, which can be considered as XXL size if the wan tan mee in KL is L size.
